Magic of Hairpieces
Hairpieces and what uses they have
You are all different persons as such and I am sure you know lots of guys who think why on earth would girls wear bridal tiaras or any kind hair accessories really, we wont even speak about the reaction to hair extensions or hair pieces. Well I am sure you will agree it just gives us women that extra bit of power or glamour. It’s all very well being natural but there are those times you have the need to just add that bit of oomph for that feel good feeling. You can see all the stars, with long locks been all the rage on the red carpets, from Tara Banks, Paris Hilton, Naomi Campbell and Jessica Alba.
Why hairpieces or hair extensions for you?
I watched this program on television about this girl that has 300+ hair extensions or hairpieces. She is motivated by these hair pieces, she becomes this person, like Venom then she takes on this persona all super sexy and I guess its makes life a bit more exciting in more ways than one. Her husband had a problem with finding this furry thing on the bedside table, what did he think it was a living creature. At the end of the day it was her choice to have or to wear these hairpieces it made her very happy. I do have to confess that I think 300+ is a bit excessive, that money could be spent on something else.
Say you have short hair, if you really felt the need for long hair, yes hair pieces is a viable alternative, you can avoid to painstaking growing your hair and going through all those awful in between stages of bits here and there. You personally might think girls with long hair have so much more scope with playing around with there hair, so much to do, with no effort at all, slip a headband on and you have that bit of glamour.
Its all up to your personal taste, even for brides it is great, not too sure how it will work with bridal tiaras though, I am sure it will give you that thickness you need to hold the tiara in place. See it will be great as wedding hair accessories, even if you wear a hair clip or headband.
Types of hairpieces
You might call these hair extensions but hairpieces come in all shapes and sizes.
Easilites clip on high lights – a great way to highlight your hair without you having to strip and color your own hair. The beauty of these is that they are 100% human hair, they come in 16” clip-in nightlights, 11 funky colors but you can color or highlight them as well, iron them, curl and style as your own hair.

Clip-on hair combs hairpieces – where you simply clip it in at the crown of your head, or you lift your hair up on the crown to attach. Some are called Extendit Hair, Hair Extensions.

Shine in Royal Wedding Hair Accessories
Some of the Royal Wedding Hair Accessories seen
With all the royal weddings abounding this year, we have a bonanza in amazing wedding hair accessories. I just loved Charlene Wittstock’s floral diamond brooch nineteenth century something borrowed from her future sister-in-law Caroline of Monaco, Hanover for the church wedding.

Wondering why she did not wear a tiara but think back to Princess Grace she wore a headdress made of silk embroidery with seed pearls, doves and flowers of orange. Charlene of Monaco now, unlike other European princesses has not inherited any jewelry from the Grimaldi family yet.

Gifts from Prince Albert in Royal Wedding Hair Accessories
But she has been given gifts from Prince Albert, created especially for her. Prince Albert got Van Cleef ET Arpels, the trusted jeweler to design a timeless gift for her. The piece is a necklace cum tiara of 859 diamonds and 359 sapphires of different shades representing the sea foam, with 11-4 carat diamonds that symbolize each drop of water. The necklace is versatile it becomes a tiara as well.
The tiara that Princess Charlene wore at the reception after the church wedding is a design from Lorenz Baumer. It is also made with diamonds, with instructions from Prince Albert to keep it simple and informal. The tiara design has the look of the crest of a wave, keeping with Charlene’s passion of the sea. Using diamonds with white gold leading, adding to the shining display of light added with 11 rods with 8 carats diamonds. It is so appropriate for the ex swimming champion to wear in keeping with the Olympic style of swimmers, makes you think of the old-fashioned wreath of bygone days. The tiara comes with a small chic screwdriver with the initials C of course; the tiara can be dismantled into sections. To wear as a small or large brooch, as a necklace, hairpiece and of course as the tiara as she wore it. It is so practical and useful for all those occasions she is going to need that extra special bling to look as spectacular as she looked at the wedding.
Well we all know the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate was loaned a tiara from the collection of the Queen. It was quite delicate and elegant, in more of a traditional way.
Up and coming Royal Wedding Hair Accessories
The question is now what will the Queen’s eldest granddaughter Zara Phillips are wearing. The dress designer has been announced it is one of the one’s the Queen uses Stewart Parvin. I looked on the website got some modern and classic styles, some so divine. On the site the models are wearing bridal gowns with wedding hair accessories by Louis Mariette from the UK. They have also got some modern new pieces like tiara like headbands, headpieces, hair clips and brooches, but they have some equally stunning vintage wedding hair accessories as well. So it will be very interesting to see what the day will bring in wedding hair accessories.

Vintage Wedding Hair Accessories
What comes to mind when you say Vintage Wedding Hair Accessories?
Well when I think of Vintage anything, I see the oldie worldly grandeur when people knew how to dress for all those great occasions. The classic styles added with bits and pieces of family heirlooms that were passed down the generations. I personally have never received any of these vintage brooches or any kind of heirloom and I think it would be such a cool memento to hand down over the ages. I do remember my deceased granny wearing these old vintage style brooches that would have been great converted into a hair clip or hair comb.

When you look at old movies with the old ocean liners or think of the Titanic movies remember how the people were dressed, those were when people still dressed to the nines with extravagant hair accessories or hair jewelry and costume jewelry or the real deal.
Nowadays on the cruise ships the ladies mainly dress up on the formal nights but really nothing like the bygone eras unless on some of the old English style one’s perhaps like the Q2. They simply think a nice dress will do with some earrings, why not make the effort to dress like that era and get some amazing pictures to keep for memories.
Some of the Vintage Wedding Hair Accessories stores out there
Lily Blue – Something Old Designer Wedding Jewellery & Accessories
One of the hair accessories online stores is this South Africa one that uses vintage pieces from the 1920’s to the 1950’s and remodels them into unique pieces of vintage wedding hair accessories. They add this vintage chic to the old Hollywood style glamour.
They have one piece gorgeous, like a soft hairpiece with fabric roses and crystals sewed on, simply to die for. Or an old style Hollywood glamour comb studded with rhinestones.

Kate’s Royal Tiara
Kate’s Royal Tiara and the fairy-tale wedding
The fairy-tale wedding of William and Kate, her stunning Princess Grace style dress, so princess like and elegant and of course the something borrowed the Royal Tiara the “Halo”(Scroll). Hats were so British, and of course the fascinators were the item of the day, from weird to wonderful, the Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie in there over the top fascinators by the famous Philip Treacy, the milliner.

More about the Royal Tiara the “Halo
What do we know about the Halo Royal Tiara?
It was given to the Queen Mother, made by Cartier in the 1930’s, she then gave it to the current Queen on her eighteenth birthday. It went beautifully with Kate’s Grace Kelly styled dress, designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen.
Royal Tiara and the fascinators
The Royal Tiara was not the only piece of hair jewelry on the bridal party; her sister Pippa Middleton had a Lily-of-the-Valley hairpiece to keep her hair off her face. Everyone else had hats or fascinators of all kinds; made by Philip Treacy the famous milliner.
Victoria Beckman had one of the most striking pillbox style by Phillip Treacy a stiff navy fascinator with a flower design and curled details, going beautifully with her own design, one of the best dressed.
Carole Middleton looked pretty elegant as well in her pale blue hat and Catherine Walker (Princess Di’s favorite designer).
Zara Philips in a striking black hat, and dress, she is always beautifully turned out.
Charlene Wittstock, the fiancé of Prince Albert of Monaco in a stunning grey coat style dress and huge hat all simply elegant.
Chelsy, Prince Harry’s girlfriend, looked quite elegant in a turquoise suit with a discreet taupe lace hat by milliner Victoria Grant.
Princess Letizia of Spain stunning in a salmon pink dress with a fifties style hat in the same color, always one of the most stylish.
The milliner Philip Treacy designed Kate Middleton’s hat for Prince William’s passing out parade at Sandhurst in 2006, and of course Princess Beatrice wears those daring creations at Ascot of him, the one with all the butterflies staked on top.
What a wonderful ceremony full of pomp and ceremony but equally beautiful for the couple, it was almost private as they said the vows. Wishing them all the best in life, all the love and light.
For more on the royal tiara see an earlier post.
Royal Wedding Hair Accessories
So what will everyone else be wearing in Royal Wedding Hair Accessories?
The event of the decade is here, the wedding of the decade and of course the Royal Wedding Hair Accessories, who will be wearing what. With all the excitement in the air; I think it will be fascinators galore, or just some funky over the top hats.
When you see pictures of the British Royal family they are always photographed wearing a hat, the old Queen Mum used to wear all feathery creations, whereas her daughter the Queen wears the same blocked style or I have seen pictures of her with a fascinator. The same with all the events for Royal Ascot, Lords, or big events for royalty, hats are the entire fashion item to wear, the British do like their hats.

But what will the guests wear for the Royal Wedding Hair Accessories, will it be the now famous fascinator or just a funky hat
Kate Middleton’s family and members of her bridal party will be wearing headpieces by top milliner Philip Treacy, who does all those amazing designs with feathers, flowers, bows and other adornments. A quote from Treacy "We are making beautiful hats for many of the guests to wear, and I believe in hats that make the heart beat faster,” Lots of women placed there order for hats as soon as the engagement was announced. Some are ordering the bridal birdcage veils and fascinators.
What would your wear to the Royal Wedding Hair Accessories if you were going
Well for me I would not be in to these huge bouffant creations, but a delicate fascinator could be pretty cool, Zara Phillips has a nice style with some great hats she wears, trendy but mod as well. She has shown that as the Queens granddaughter you don’t have to be all stuffy and wear yucky looking hats like Camilla wears. Even Princess Eugenie and Beatrice have got a bit of style, not as perfect as Zara, but they got there own freaky style like Princess Beatrice with her creations. Unfortunately these young girls don’t have a lot of say they are Royals and as such have to wear these hats.

Princess Di was still the style icon with her hats, even her emerald green necklace that she wore in her hair, that was so wow in hair jewelry. See the ad above and try and do it yourself with a necklace by Swarovski Crystal. One thing she would be proud of Kate dressing quite stylish, Diana did like fashion and was such an icon of her time.

Amazing Royal Tiaras
The most famous Royal Wedding and Royal Tiaras of all time
Excitement of the Royal Weddings and the Royal Tiaras
Now when it comes to royal tiaras they are pretty stunning if you look back over the years at all the weddings. Every little girl dreams of being a princess one-day possibly even Kate Middleton.
Princess Diana, if I remember correctly playacted or dreamed of being a Princess.
Amazing how the excitement builds about Royal Weddings, creates a lot frenzy first of Prince William and Kate and of course Prince Albert of Monaco and Charlene Wittstock.
Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, with her fantastic tiara, at her own royal wedding this year.
Even if you go back to Fergie’s wedding, her tiara, all the tiaras Princess Diana wore over the years.
Types of Royal Tiaras
Queen Elizabeth wore a Russian Tiaras on her wedding day, but owns loads of others.
Princess Grace of Monaco, the Grimaldi family own several, Princess Caroline has worn most of them.
Princess Diana, wore the Spencer tiara for her wedding, the Queen gave her the Cambridge Love Knot as a wedding gift.

Princess Victoria of Sweden, wore the cameo tiara for her wedding, her mom wore it as well on her day.
Duchess of York tiara, Fergie’s one that she wore at her wedding
Most of these tiaras can be converted into gorgeous necklaces; Princess Caroline has on several occasions worn one like that.
European Royal Tiaras
We are all looking forward to next year and the royal wedding to see what dress and what royal tiara Kate Middleton will wear as well as Charlene Wittstock marrying Prince Albert. Princess Grace never wore a tiara at her wedding, she had a lacy headress, equally stunning, so maybe Charlene won't wear a tiara. There will be a lot of guessing about what they both will wear, but it will be spectacular whatever they choose. It will all be so romantic and exciting to watch.
